Athlete Profile and Notes
The Athlete Profile shows what Montis knows about you from Intervals.icu: your body data, thresholds, sport settings and zones, your Montis membership, and your athlete notes. Your Intervals.icu athlete notes are also the simplest way to tell every Montis coach, in the app and in ChatGPT or Claude, about your goals and limits.
Open it
- In the sidebar, press Athlete Profile. It appears once your Intervals.icu account is connected.
- Or press the small Profile pill next to your name in the dashboard header. The same profile opens as an overlay.
- Some Session Intensity Lab views also have a link to it.
What you see
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Header | Name, photo, city and country, timezone and Intervals.icu ID, with your membership badge (Montis Subscriber Plus, Montis Subscriber or Montis Supporter) or a Support Montis button. |
| Biometrics | Sex, date of birth, weight, height, resting HR and max HR. |
| Core Physiology | Base FTP, eFTP, FTP/kg, LTHR, VO2 max and lactate power. |
| Montis Membership | Your level, status, level ID and Expiration: the date your current paid period ends, or Active (No Expiration). Without a membership it says so and offers Support Montis. |
| Athlete Goals & Notes | Your Intervals.icu athlete notes. Only shown when you have notes. |
| Sport Specific Settings | For each sport: FTP, LTHR, max HR, W', threshold pace, the MMP model, and your power, pace and HR zones. |
All of this comes from Intervals.icu, which is the source of truth. To change a value, change it in Intervals.icu; the profile only displays it.
If your coach uses their own black-and-white theme, a Use Montis colours switch lets you go back to the Montis colours on your own profile.
When a coach acts as an athlete
When you act as one of your athletes, the profile shows that athlete's data. The membership badge and the Montis Membership card are hidden, so you see neither your own subscription nor theirs. See Coach Roster and Acting as an Athlete.
Tell Montis your goals with athlete notes
Your athlete notes are a free-text field in Intervals.icu. Montis includes them in every report it builds, so you write your goals and limits once and every coach reads them.
- In Intervals.icu, open Settings and find the Notes field of your athlete profile.
- Write short, lasting facts, for example your target event, the days you can train, an injury to work around, or "no running on consecutive days".
- Save. Montis picks up the notes the next time it reads your data.
Where the notes show up:
- Weekly, season and wellness reports: the notes appear in the Report Context section, in the app and in ChatGPT or Claude through the Montis connector.
- Athlete Profile: in the Athlete Goals & Notes box.
- AI Builder: they pre-fill the Custom AI Instructions box. See below.
Keep notes current. Old notes keep reaching every report. Remove a goal or an injury note once it no longer applies.
Notes and AI Builder directives
The AI Builder has two places for your own instructions. They do different jobs.
| Intervals.icu athlete notes | AI Builder personal directives | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you edit them | Intervals.icu settings | Persistent Personal Directives in the AI Builder |
| Where they're stored | Intervals.icu | Montis cloud, one set per athlete |
| Who reads them | Reports in the app, ChatGPT and Claude, and the AI Builder | The AI Builder plan generator only |
| Who can see them | Anyone with access to your Intervals.icu profile, including your coach | You and your linked coach, who can also edit them |
In the AI Builder, under Priority 1: Hard Overrides:
- Custom AI Instructions (from Athlete Profile notes) is filled from your notes when the box is empty, or when you switch athlete. Your edits there aren't overwritten, and they don't change your Intervals.icu notes.
- Persistent Personal Directives are standing rules, such as "no heavy strength in race weeks", that apply to every plan you generate. Chat, reports and ChatGPT or Claude don't use them.
So put anything every coach should know in your Intervals.icu notes, and keep planning-only rules in the AI Builder directives. See Workouts & AI Builder.
