Languages & Translation
Montis currently supports seven selectable languages:
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- Dutch
Language support in Montis is currently partial.
Selecting a language does not mean that every part of the application, every metric or every generated report will be translated.
What Is Currently Translated
Language selection is primarily used for:
- application navigation and menu elements where translations are available;
- selected interface labels and controls;
- Montis AI / LLM coaching responses;
- selected notifications and user-facing messages.
The AI coaching layer can therefore respond in the selected language even when the underlying Montis report remains in English.
What Is Currently English
The Montis reporting and intelligence layers are currently primarily English.
This includes substantial parts of:
- Dashboard Horizons;
- Weekly / Micro reporting;
- Season / Meso reporting;
- Macro reporting;
- Calendar forecast output;
- Race Readiness;
- Performance Intelligence;
- ESPE adaptation output;
- ADE states and decision evidence;
- physiology and wellness analysis;
- technical metric names and governed coaching states.
Some interface labels within these areas may be translated while the underlying report content remains English.
This is expected with the current implementation.
Why Reporting Is Different
Montis reports are not simply pages of fixed interface text.
The Railway coaching engine produces a large governed semantic structure containing:
- metrics;
- classifications;
- coaching states;
- explanatory text;
- evidence;
- warnings;
- phase information;
- adaptation states;
- event context;
- forecast information;
- technical identifiers.
There are many possible combinations of these outputs.
Translating the complete reporting layer therefore requires more than translating the application menus.
Montis must also ensure that translated terminology remains consistent across the Intelligence Stack and does not change the meaning of governed states such as:
load_accepting;recovery_priority;productive_fatigue;- phase classifications;
- adaptation states;
- ADE decisions.
For this reason, Montis currently keeps the canonical reporting and semantic layer primarily in English rather than providing incomplete or potentially inconsistent translations.
AI Responses vs Montis Reports
These are two different layers.
Montis Report
Produced by the deterministic Montis coaching engine and Unified Reporting Framework.
The canonical reporting language is currently primarily English.
AI Coaching Response
The AI interprets the governed Montis output and can present its explanation or coaching response in your selected language.
Therefore, it is normal to see an English report or technical state while receiving the AI explanation in German, French, Spanish or another supported language.
Using your browser's translator
Reports, Dashboard Horizons and Help stay in English. If you want to read them in your own language, you can use your browser's translator.
When you pick a language from the globe button at the top of the app, Montis tells your browser the page is in that language. Browsers with built-in translation, such as Edge and Chrome, then know what they are translating from and to.
Sync Browser Translate
The language menu also has a Sync Browser Translate checkbox. It is off by default.
- Press the globe button at the top of the app.
- Choose your language.
- Tick Sync Browser Translate.
Montis then switches on Google's page translator and points it at the language you chose, so English report text is translated as it appears. A small green dot on the globe button shows that sync is on. Untick the box to turn it off and go back to the original English text.
- Sync uses Google's translator, so the page text is sent to Google to translate.
- Your choice is remembered on this device and browser only.
Machine translation is unofficial. It can mistranslate metric names and governed states such as
load_acceptingorrecovery_priority. If something reads oddly, switch back to English to check the original. Ask the AI Coach for an explanation in your language instead: it replies in the language you chose.
Experimental Reporting Translation
Montis has also experimented with internationalisation inside the Railway reporting engine.
This includes infrastructure for translating parts of the semantic reporting graph while protecting technical identifiers and governed coaching states.
Full semantic-report translation is currently not active across all supported languages.
Development of this layer has been paused because complete internationalisation requires extensive validation across the many possible report structures and coaching states.
Future Language Support
The longer-term goal is broader localisation of:
- Dashboard Horizons;
- report explanations;
- coaching evidence;
- readiness and adaptation views;
- science and Help content;
- other user-facing reporting components.
This will be introduced progressively rather than presenting partially translated reporting as complete language support.
Until then:
Language selection means supported UI and AI-response localisation — not complete translation of the Montis reporting engine.
