Montis in ChatGPT and Claude
You can use Montis inside ChatGPT and Claude through MCP (Model Context Protocol). The assistant signs in with your Intervals.icu account and calls the Montis tools for reports, activity analysis and calendar work.
The numbers come from Montis. The assistant explains what the Montis engine returns and is told not to recalculate it. Intervals.icu stays the source of truth for your data.
Coming soon: install from the directory
Montis has been submitted as an app for ChatGPT and as a connector in Claude's directory, and both are waiting for review. Once they are approved, setup becomes:
- ChatGPT: find Montis in ChatGPT's apps, press Connect and sign in with Intervals.icu.
- Claude: find Montis in Claude's connector directory, press Connect and sign in with Intervals.icu.
Until then, add Montis as a custom connector with the steps below. A connection you set up now keeps working after the directory listing goes live.
What you need
- An Intervals.icu account.
- A ChatGPT or Claude plan that lets you add custom connectors.
- Some advanced coaching tools need a Montis subscription. Montis Wellness is free.
The Montis server URL
https://montis.icu/mcp
That's all ChatGPT and Claude need: paste the URL, connect and sign in with Intervals.icu.
Claude
- Open Claude connectors (Customize → Connectors).
- Choose Add custom connector, name it Montis and paste
https://montis.icu/mcp. - Press Add, then Connect.
- Sign in with Intervals.icu and approve the request.
- Set the Montis tools to Always allow, so Claude doesn't stop to ask on every call.
- Start a new conversation.
The same connector works in Claude on the web, desktop, mobile and Cowork.
Add the Montis Skills
The assistant doesn't read the Montis coaching method by itself. The two Montis Skills give it the full method:
- montis-coaching: reports, coaching decisions, activity analysis and calendar work.
- montis-plan-builder: a multi-week periodised plan written to your Intervals.icu calendar after you confirm it.
To install them:
- In Claude, open Settings → Capabilities and turn on Code execution & file creation. Skills don't show until it's on.
- Download both zip files.
- Add them under Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
- In a chat, type
/montis-coachingor/montis-plan-builderto use one.
The Skills work with your Montis connector. They don't replace it.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT Settings, turn on Developer mode in the advanced settings for apps.
- Under Plugins, add a new MCP plugin.
- Enter Montis as the name and paste
https://montis.icu/mcp. - Press Create, then sign in with Intervals.icu.
- Refresh the tool list and start a new conversation.
ChatGPT versions of the Skills are in the same folder: montis-coaching and montis-plan-builder.
- The Montis custom GPT closes on 11 December 2026, when OpenAI retires custom GPTs. Use Developer mode instead.
- A Montis app for ChatGPT is waiting for OpenAI's approval. Until then, Developer mode is the way in.
Scheduled reports and alerts
You can have ChatGPT or Claude send you a Montis report on a schedule, for example a weekly plan every Sunday evening or a readiness check every morning. Supporters and Subscribers can also get a short alert after a new activity or wellness update reaches Intervals.icu.
Who can use it
- Scheduled reports: anyone with the Montis connector in ChatGPT or Claude. The scheduling itself is a ChatGPT or Claude feature, so their plan rules apply. At the time of writing, ChatGPT scheduled tasks need a paid plan (Plus or above).
- New-upload alerts: Supporters and Subscribers. Anyone can ask for them, but for everyone else the check always comes back with no update.
- Scheduling works through the Montis connector only, not the older Montis Custom GPT.
Set it up in ChatGPT
Until Montis is listed in the ChatGPT app store, add it as a custom connector in Developer mode first (see ChatGPT above).
- Open a new chat with the Montis connector turned on.
- Tag @montis (or the name you gave the connector) and ask for the report you want, and how often. For example: a weekly report and next-week plan every Sunday at 18:00, or a readiness check every weekday at 06:30.
- ChatGPT creates the scheduled task. You can edit or pause it from ChatGPT's task list.
Set it up in Claude (Cowork)
- In Claude, open Scheduled → New task → Create with Claude, or type /schedule in a chat.
- Ask for the same kind of report, naming Montis as the data source.
- The task runs in the cloud, so your computer does not need to be on.
Writing a good scheduled prompt
A scheduled task runs without you watching, so tell the AI how to behave when something goes wrong. A good prompt says:
- which report to run, for example the weekly report (
run_weekly) or the wellness report (run_wellness); - to use Montis data only and not invent or estimate missing numbers;
- to say clearly if Montis cannot be reached or data is missing, instead of guessing;
- what you want back, for example three key points and the plan for the next seven days.
Example: "Every Monday at 07:00, use @montis to run my weekly report. Use only Montis data. If Montis is unavailable or data is missing, tell me that and stop. Give me the three most important points and my plan for this week."
New-upload alerts
Montis keeps one list of pending updates for you. An update is added when Intervals.icu tells Montis that a new activity was uploaded or your wellness changed.
To be alerted, schedule a task that asks Montis to check pending training updates (check_pending_training_updates), for example every hour. Set the consumer value to chatgpt in ChatGPT or claude in Claude. Coaches can add an athlete ID to check a coached athlete.
When there is an update, the AI gets the details and is asked to:
- analyse a new activity, then run your weekly report; or
- give a short wellness and recovery assessment after a wellness update.
When there is nothing new, it should reply that there is no update.
Things to know
- Checking marks the update as seen. The check never changes your Intervals.icu data, but once an app has received an update it leaves the list. Only the first app to check gets it.
- The Montis App checks too. For Supporters and Subscribers, the app checks when it opens and when you return to it, then shows the update notice. If the app checks first, your ChatGPT or Claude task will see no update, and the other way round.
- Push notifications are separate. If you turned on push notifications on a device, Montis also sends a push when the update first arrives, whichever app checks later. See PWA App Installation & Mobile Push Guide.
- How often: Montis does not limit how often you check. ChatGPT's shortest repeat is currently once an hour.
Good to know
- Guidance isn't loaded automatically. If you don't use the Skills, attach the Montis resource
knowledge://coaching/montis-icu-skillto the chat, if your client lets you. - 30 tool calls a minute. Each athlete can make up to 30 Montis tool calls a minute. If you hit the limit, wait a minute and ask again.
- The connection renews itself. You don't need to sign in again unless you use Disconnect apps in Montis.
